While I sat on The Throne this morning I read a curious article in Reader’s Digest about Vitamins. Maybe I have been living under a rock… but I was not aware that Vitamins also have some serious negative effects to the body as well. (in most cases if the dosage was too high)
Vitamin B6: nerve damage, loss of muscle co-ordination in limbs
Beta-Carotene: (supplements only) increased risk of lung cancer in smokers (!) (as found in yellow and green leafy veg and yellow fruit)
Vitamin E: Headaches, fatigue, double vision, muscle weakness, GI distress
Zinc: nausea, cramping
Iron: constipation, nausea and possibly heart disease
Vitamin C: GI effects, diarrhea, flatulence (tee-hee)
Vitamin A: damage to liver, bone and vision, may cause birth defects
To be fair these are just the negative effects I was surprised to find… there are also beneficial effects from each of the vitamins listed. Just be aware that, apparently, the quote, ‘all things in moderation’ clearly extends to vitamins too!
You can look up your name via google to find how it is used throughout the web. Apparently I’m:

Hello… the wallboard has been replaced with a guestbook. Hopefully people will use it (don’t tell them it is practically the same code though…-smirk-) So sign in… I like to know where people who visit this site are from. The link is on the side. Cheers.
Whoa! The first RPG that I ever played – the beginning of well over a decade of dedicated RPGing – started on the TI994/A with Tunnels of Doom. For shits and giggles I searched today for a PC emulation of this game and actually found a great resource! The game started… then when it came to ‘loading a saved game’ error.. error… error. pooh! I’m out of ideas. It would have been fun to reminisce. I’ll let you know if I get it going…
With the help from the messageboard at mess.org I was able to play ToD!! 😀 (The fix was changing the Floppy Disk Controller setting in MESS. Options -> Dip Switches -> Floppy Disk Controller -> Setting it to TI SD. Now to save the king! -snort!-
Just finished watching the documentary Capturing the Friedmans. It is a true story about a father and son accused of molesting young boys that they taught computers to in their home. What is strange about the documentary is it really did sell guilty or innocent to me. I still can see very valid arguments for both sides. While it wasn’t the film I was expecting… it was still a very interesting look into how such a horrible charge can destroy a family and the toll it can take. I did some surfing afterwards and found a very disturbing release from the son (Jesse) here. If it is true it is an appalling miscarriage of justice. (Personally I believe it is possible in a case such as this for over zealous police and prosecutors (and parents) to create a self fulfilling prophecy and create something where there was nothing. What Jesse refers to as ‘mass-hysteria sex-abuse scandals’.) The whole thing is very interesting… no wonder the film has won so many awards…
Well. After more frustration with Windows XP – I’ve naturally formatted my box and installed RedHat’s open source OS ‘Fedora’. It continues where Red Hat 9 left off… so it is pretty sweet and ready to go with tons of useful apps. If you are feeling adventuresome, check out some of these useful linux links. Did I mention it is free? (Open source?)
