Returned to St.Catharines tonight for dinner with my parents, sibling and JP. It was yum. Pork. Hash browns. You forget how good a ‘proper’ dinner is after you have not had one for awhile… After dinner, wandered around Chapters awhile.
B. and I decided to pick up a few movies. We watched ‘Memento’ this evening. What a strange film. I’m still trying to figure it out. Very different, rent it on a clear brain day. The Sabres proved tonight that they suck. Fore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where have you been young man? Well. B. had business in Cornwall, and I had not heard back from my web clients, so I decided to go with her. Phew. What a looong drive. Silly on the way up, somber on the way back. About 460km.
I’m pretty sure the Sabres’ season is done. They couldn’t finish, couldn’t get the job done against the Islander. Better set some tee times. Sigh……………….

This afternoon after a long battle with Parvo, which had emaciated our puppy into a lifeless shell, we decided to end Marlow’s suffering. It was horribly apparent he was not going to recover and was not responding to virtually any stimulus. Apparently the entire litter of 10 puppies have all died as well. This has been one of the worst experiences to have had to witness. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to the Emergency Vet staff in Brampton who showed me the difference between doing a job, loving a job and doing a job with love. You are truly special people.
Foremost I want to thank B. who has spearheaded every attempt to save Marlow. It was clearly not meant to be. We will return to this one day and enjoy the companionship of a dog.
The last 48 hours has been a horrible rollercoaster of emotions with Marlow… one thing improves, another gets worse, he doesn’t vomit, then he does… ultimately however, he doesn’t appear to be responding to the medication. He is vomiting more often and things are not looking good at this time. There is more to this sad tale but I don’t have it in me right now to relate it all. We need a miracle now I’m afraid. 🙁
Hockey was fun today. No substitutes… Ironically the worst turn out I’ve attended is on Hockey Day in Canada. Hmmpt. As I was leaving nIVEK’s to return to Brampton… some women rear ended me on ‘black ice’ it wasn’t a massive hit or anything… I will check out my bumper in the morning. Ironically my neck *does* hurt… but only marginally more than usual for post-hockey. What a *thud!* It push me forward into another car that was waiting to turn. I didn’t see any reason to call the police, as if there was any damage, it was minimal. The driver’s passenger offered me his business card. I’ll look into it later. Not everyone is sue happy. 😛 Everyone seemed to be ok. That is what is important… driving in Canadian winters is dangerous. I figured something like this would happen sooner or later.
Puppy is stable. He seems to make marginal improvements,…. but nothing substantial.. he is still vomiting and seemingly far from being out of the woods. B. and I believe regardless what happens we have given him the best opportunity to turn his Parvo around. At some point though, his body has to help himself… that is out of our power. Get well Marlow.
I’ve added a bunch of photos of evil puppy. 🙂
Update: dcam section is gone. May add photos in some manner in the future. (Nov. 2013)
I spent part of yesterday at a job fair in St.Catharines put on by job gym. It was rather disappointing as I expected it to be. Yes… there were many employers and possibly some decent jobs opportunities… but there were in very few fields that I would like to work in. They were mostly tourism, hotels, restaurants etc. not really in anything remotely close to information technology. It was pretty much a bust for me. I did however, get some help from a Job Gym dude who pointed out some ways of improving my resume. Which was great. Just minor things… but you never know what it takes to get a proper look over.
The evening was at Captain’s. We rented some Xbox games. I must be a dolt… I rented the same game as I did before — duped — again — by the multiplayer listing on the box. Really… if it is freaking multiplayer IF you have Xbox live or IF you need to link other XBOXes together then, yes it is multiplayer BUT THOSE requirement SHOULD be listed!!! The EA sports games are multiplayer, 4 people can play on one XBOX. I find it very misleading. GRR! Anyways… we played a bit of BGDA:2 which was fun and then turned to hockey. A nice relaxing evening.
Well… we went through: Allegro, Amadeus, Bismarck, Boris, Cassius, Icarus, Kobi, Perseus, Anubis, Watson, Gimli, Darwin, Bartok, Dante…
We have tentatively settled on: Marlow.
