It’s been a hot week. Mother nature has been most unkind. Work has been surprisingly not busy…Considering we have three final game builds due ASAP at work. The company I work for is relocated its office a few blocks from its current location. I got a peek at the new office today. The new office has waaaay more space and a park behind it with a tennis court! And *gasp* windows… yes I can…see the Sun… My co-workers are already talking about soccer at lunch. 🙂 I’m looking forward to the change of location. The boys at work have arranged for a game night Saturday. Should be geekalicious.
We spent the weekend on Buckhorn Lake with my parents. It was a good time and it was great to see my parents. We took some back roads up… it never ceases to amaze me how big Ontario is. As we drove through rolling hills in farmland Ontario as far as the eye could see was green pastures and fields. Really beautiful landscapes… I thought they really must see the many storms we have been having roll in. Phew. Saturday we drove up to Bobcaygeon, Bob as my mother kept calling it. Bob was a busy little place. There are lots of little stores and restaurants. A Lock runs through the middle of town. We also stopped at the Farm Bakery just outside (or is it in?) Lakefield. Isn’t the initial smell of entering a bakery on the best smells in the world? Mmmmm!I dropped some coin, so many things were calling to me. Cheese bread, peanut butter chocolate squares, coconut raspberry tarts, strawberry custard pie, mint chocolate tarts… it was nearing overload on my sensors. In the evening my parents and I headed up to Casino night at the park. I was hoping to get some Poker in but got stuck babysitting my Dad’s money as he dealt Blackjack. Blackjack is fun but not as fun as Poker. Sunday we drove home fairly early to meet my sister and Brother in Law in Brampton for dinner. The dogs caused the usual chaos. We walked them at the Fairgrounds under one of the most spectacular rainbows I’ve seen. The photo doesn’t do it justice. It was so vivid for a few minutes. We ended the evening starting another HBO series called Dead Like Me. After watching two episodes I find it cute, funny but gawd the lead *has* to stop pouting and frowning. Good gawd.
Good news, bad news for the Sabres. They signed Briere for $5 million! How much does that leave for other signings? Things are far from done in Buffalo.
It has been a surprising that there have been no really late nights at work this week. I guess it is due to the lead coder being away. He was away on holidays in Brazil. He brought us back some local Brazilian booze made from sugar cane. I was expecting it to be harsh but it was fairly smooth. It is amazing how much it cost him. A 40oz bottle of Premium booze cost him just $15…Sounds like he enjoyed his trip to Brazil.
I’m starting to worry about the Sabres heading to arbitration. Most of the team is. I expect many of them will be awarded big money. Money that I can’t see the owner paying. So… I fear the Sabres will lose at least one of their best offensive players. Maybe, gasp!, Briere or Max. Sigh. It is such a wait and see game.
Have you played around with google trends? You enter a search word and tells you where in world that word was queried the most from. Most things hockey (for example) Canada rated the highest. Canada had all of the top ten cities for queries for hockey, curiously some of the more conservative region in world had the most queries for sex…
It is 2006 and I’ve finally made the jump from a CRT monitor to a LCD monitor. I bought a ViewSonic VX922. It’s pretty sweet. Obviously you immediately notice the space you’re saving. I find the picture bright and colours crisp. I’ve played a few games and noticed no ghosting at all… with a 2ms refresh time it’s not surprising. Apparently CRTs are no longer being manufactured… Huh. Anyway, so far very happy with the monitor.
I got MYSQL working on my home web server… the new installer is wonderful… you get MYSQL up and running in minutes. I’ve already got a table set up and I’m reading data with PHP. Ahh joy.
Looked like Brampton was going to get hammer with a huge storm this evening… but it simply blew through… odd.
Bah. Gasp… holy humidity batman. Spent a nice weekend at B.’s sister’s cottage last weekend. I need a name for it…B.’s sister’s cottage…how ’bout Gloucester, since it is on the Gloucester Pool…Anyway, as always we ate like kings and queens. B.’s brother in laws family are some serious cooks. Yum. Did a little boating, drinking, sleeping, work, play… usual cottage stuff.
And so it ends… We watched the final episode of Six Feet Under… (spoilers) Phew. I enjoyed the series. It was a little wacky and always entertaining. I was disappointed with how the writers decided to end the lives of some of the cast members. Did you really have to shoot Keith? I felt he deserved a better ending… The concept, however was good… what to watch now? We were thinking of starting Lost. Any suggestions would be welcome… looking for an entertaining, intelligent, funny series to watch.
This has been a pretty insane work week. Every day has been at least 11 hours. I’m really starting to feel fatigued, as are many of my co-workers. Overworked? Perhaps… I hear a lot of grumbling and dissatisfaction around me. How long can we be expected to work like this to meet deadlines we didn’t set? Bah. It is getting tiresome.
Wow…get the freaking riddlin… Crazy kid… Phew.
We are nearing the end of the series Six Feet Under. A series we have really enjoyed. The casting has been outstanding. Spoiler…I can’t believe that killed poor ‘ol Nate, just as he *maybe* found someone he could live with. We have only four episodes left to watch… we are wondering if anyone will end up being happy?
What a sad weekend for soccer with the Italian win. Now nations worldwide will think that diving, acting and unsportsmanlike play is how to excel in the world cup. Sad. Thanks to Zidane to trying to shut one of those wind bag Italians up. Clearly unspeakable rudeness on Materazzi’s part was responsible for ZZ reacting as he did. Zidane was wrong but toss the ignorant Italian off as well. Bah.
Life cereal, now in Cinnamon. Wow. 🙂 What is with all the rain? Is gawd trying to refill the Great Lakes in one day? Ishhh….
The ‘photos’ section has been empty for quite some time. I recoded the picture viewing code this morning and I intend on adding a bunch of photos soon. Enjoy.
Yes it is that wonderful time of the year again! Game crunch deadline time! This means 12-16 hour days at the office for days on end! It means no social life, no girlfriend, no fresh air! You think making games is all fun huh? Well… it’s not! I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel on the current project yet either… it seems to be pretty far behind. Zzzz… All work no play for now…
B. sent me this cool link of an artist named Chili Thom. I think his art is pretty amazing. Check it out.
We have decided to postpone the cottage plan until we are in a better financial situation. Instead we are going to do some home renovations…
