I finally finished watching the best anime series I have watched tonight. Samurai Champloo has been awesome and very entertaining. Each of the three main characters has a definite personality and wit about them. The animation was often stunning and majestic. The dialogue was sincere and simple with a generous dose of humour. Clearly director by Shinichiro Watanabe is one of the best (if not the best) directors in anime. He also directed Cowboy Bebop (which I’m also watching and enjoying). Champloo was a wonderful journey and I’m sad it has come to an end. I highly recommend the series (26 episodes) to anyone who enjoys animation/anime. The series is, however, not for kids.
Ahh yes. Mr. Drury tips in a win for the Sabres for my birthday. He likely didn’t know but thanks anyway.
Thanks to B. for her lovely card, gifts and thoughtfulness.
Played some games on a 360 with some co-workers this afternoon. Was fun. Gears of War is quite an impressive game. I think I made one step closer to a 360 today…
Can’t stop the onslaught of time. Yes I’m a year older today. My sister sent me a funny Hallmark E-card. Apparently the characters in the card (Hoops and Yoyo) have a full website dedicated to them. They are pretty funny in a high strung, bizarre way.
Tanga did well at the Dog Show yesterday taking Best Opposite in her breed. She finally has a couple confirmation points in Canada.
And the dog fun never ends. We spent the evening with some friends from the Vizsla Societty of Ontario. We will be helping with the bi-monthly newsletter and the website.
I was leafing through the current edition of Now Magazine; which is dumped on our offices’ doorstep; and noticed what must be one of the signs of the apocalypse. Yes boys and girls be afraid, be very afraid. Twisted Sister has a Christmas album. I could not make this shit up. Dee Snider belting out White Christmas? What? Huh! I’m sure this has it’s niche market but… wow.
Had yummy fish from Heritage Wednesday night. They had an article about dwindling Halibut stock for 2007… I can’t seem to find any evidence to corroborate that. I hope it isn’t true. Halibut is a tasty fish! They have great onion rings as well.
Hopefully today’s nice weather will carry on to the weekend. Tanga is entered in a few dog shows. Hopefully she will get some Canadian points eh.
Wow…I only saw this today. Talk about ugly and vile. Surely dealing with hecklers is part of the territory for a stand-up. Dude has some rage issues. I read this article about it, and it makes more sense to me than Ricards should join the KKK. I’m sure his career is toast. He’ll suffer enough as a result of his words and actions.
Friday afternoon management decided everyone was going to see the new Bond film Casino Royale. Who am I to disagree? I thought the movie was very good. The film showed a great new direction for Bond films as well. The word ‘visceral’ came to mind after the film. The focus was away from gadgets and onto the characters. The new Bond, Daniel Craig, was very impressive in the role. Cool as any Bond in the past. Eva Green, the female lead, was pretty stunning in the film. They played well off each other… but a strong chemistry wasn’t overly apparent. I enjoyed this Bond film much more than any in the recent past. Hopefully Craig will keep the role awhile. Well done 007.
Saturday we did some Christmas shopping. Sunday we spent all day at a Vizsla meeting. We actually could have skipped it. I’ll be helping with the website, B. and I will be helping with the newsletter. Bah. We put the Christmas lights up Sunday night. After MUCH debate… we decided on green and white lights. They look quite good. Nothing quite like standing at the top of a ladder in cold weather struggling to string lights onto an eaves trough that doesn’t want anything clipped to it. Thankfully this is only once a year.
We finally talked to a handyman last night to do some fixes around the house. Be nice to get some of that stuff done regardless of the cost. Sometimes you just want stuff OFF the TO-DO list.
Bah. Crappy rainy miserable day. I’m hoping it doesn’t extend to the weekend.
B. and I have been looking for some Christmas wreaths for the house. There were some nice ones at Home Depot. By the time we got there, however, they were sold out! So we made a trip last night to Michael’s and found a few other options. Hopefully they will look nice when put up. We decided today to get some house renos done. Also looking at stereos/home theatre systems… Sooooo many options. I’m going to rely on consumerreports for some help. Hoping to look at EHR or Bay/Bloor this weekend.
Work has been fairly slow. The new year however, could be insanely busy. It already looks like many projects could be due around the same time. Sigh. I can taste the red bull now. :/
A very Happy Birthday to my Mother. She is one of the most important people in my life. Always kind and thoughtful I miss seeing you more regularly than I’m able.
Went down to Niagara Saturday to visit my mother and sister. My Dad was on vacation in Myrtle Beach golfing. I took my ladies out to dinner to Salha Thai. We made a reservation so we were seated at the ‘special low tables’. It is interesting. Everyone has to take off their shoes before they can be seated. Even the wait staff. A standard Asian custom – I’m not sure of its background. Anyway, the food was amazing. We shared four dishes, a Shrimp dish, Pad Thai, BBQ Chicken and a peanut chicken. I think Thai has to be one of my favourite ethnic foods.
Sunday B. watched her nephew. I met them at the conservation for a walk with the dogs. It was a pretty nice afternoon… I was surprised there weren’t more people there.
I love the Geico cavemen commercials. Go Sabres!
Heh. Gotta love the retro Raisin Bran commercial with the tree cutter running to get a bowl of cereal. How old is that? Funny.
Of all the genres of games RPGs are by far my favourites. Neverwinter Nights was a game that I enjoyed for years. It gave me countless hours of gaming both solo and online with friends. So when Neverwinter Nights 2 was in development I was quite interested in what Obsidian (the game developer) was doing. NWN2 is done and I’ve been playing it for about a week now. It is fun. But it is a very different game than the original NWN. There are a lot of odd buggy issues which I’m hoping will be addressed with patches. I’m still waiting to try out multiplayer. So far I think the game is decent… we’ll see how it goes after more gameplay.
Sabres are still rolling along.
People have some strange expectation sometimes. People make assumptions based on ignorance and emotion. Many people like to think the world revolves around them. Well it doesn’t. There are times when I can’t do all the things I want to do. There are times we disappoint the people we love. There are times you expect people you love will understand and not use guilt as a cruel manipulative weapon to get what they want. Sometimes listening can accomplish a lot more than talking.
