Today my sister is doubling her trouble adding a second dog to her family. I wish her all the best with her new gray addition.
As I’m sure many of you know I’m a pretty big music fan. Naturally I enjoy listening to music at work. Often my best option is to choose streaming Internet Radio from stations like RadioParadise, Chronix Aggression or KEXP depending on my mood. It is a wonderful service that has introduced me to numerous musical Artists I wouldn’t otherwise have likely heard. Tragically the abundance of great streaming radio sites is being threatened by greed for money. The majority of streaming radio sites are without commercials and depend largely on listeners donations to stay on the air. The U.S. Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) has just issued a decision on the royalty rates that webcasters have to pay to record labels for the period 2006-2010. (See Wired News coverage HERE.) For the love of music sign the petition! For more information read Bill (from radioparadise’s blog) here!
Maybe it is some strange brain thing going on, but… I always think my car runs much smoother after getting an oil change; which it got today. It is all about regular scheduled maintenance!
Finally! It is coming… the 360 that should have originally been released. Fortunately…. when I bought my 360 I opted for EB’s upgrade within a year option, so my understanding is I can swap them out at no cost. We’ll see. Here is an article on the Elite. Seems a lot of people on slashdot are ripping the elite as having insignificant improvements but in my situation I connect my 360 to an LCD monitor via VGA… so having a HDMI-out which I can connect drirectly to my 360 should give me a true digital picture. The bigger drive is nice. The new paint job is pretty much irrelevant to me. Wheeeeeeeeee! Not Wii.
I hope there is an especially hot place in hell for all those asshole Viagra spammers that fill my work mailbox with their redundant repetitive wasteful e-mails! GRR. Every freaking day I have to delete 10-100 of these messages. They are sinister in their methods of subverting anti-spam filters. I primarily use outlook and there is no way to filter is message content based on whether the message contains html or external image links (which most spam does)… It is good to see M$ taking this matter seriously. I hope they find a solution soon this story was dated years ago…. SIGH. Anyone with anti-spam suggestions are greatly welcome.

Update: Madness is gonzo.
I ended up having to work on Saturday. We are trying to avoid having to pull the often inevitable end of project all nighters by putting in some extra time now. It wasn’t too bad. We played a little Guitar Heroes 2 on the PS2 before I left. An interesting game although I really suck at it. Do I hear Drum hero? After work B. and I met at her sister’s place for her brother’s 30th birthday. As usual, food took centre stage. We enjoyed warm flatbread and BBQed ribs for h’orderves. The main course is often BBQed meat and this was no exception. We enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches. Mmm mmm… The dessert was a crazy chocolate pecan pie. I think I’m still digesting it. This pie was seriously dense. A fun night even is it couched me for hours when I got home.
Arguments can be such a waste of energy. How many arguments have you had that you can remember what it was actually about a week or two later? I believe arguments are often about things that aren’t even said. Meh.
Wow… I finally had review at work after two years. I’ll know soon (hopefully) if my salary request has been accepted. Phew. It was good to talk about things with my boss. All things felt very positive.
Losing 4-1 in the third fans of many teams would have packed it in and called it a night. I have, however, watched most of the Sabres games this year (thanks to Centre Ice) and I *know* better than to give up on this team until the final horn blows. What a come back. Huge Sabres win 5-4!
TSN’s horribly bias ‘commentating’ was appalling. Talk about homers. Unbelievable!
The newest addition to my geekdom is a Viewsonic LCD Monitor (VG2230WM). WHEE! I’m presently using it with my 360. It is amazing how much bigger things appear by simply adding three inches of viewable space. There are no dead pixels that I can find either. LCDs are great. Not only do I love the space I now have on my desk but the colours seem so much brighter than CRT monitors. -snort-
I timed my drive into work yesterday morning perfectly. As soon as I sat down it started pouring outside. I hate driving in the rain. However, Mother Nature caught me walking back to the office from lunch. My pants were soaked. Gah. Oh what a feeling. -frown-
IRELAND! We are booked to go in June! I just love ticket prices… A ticket for two to Ireland costs $400! but wait! there is more…. the TAXES on two people to get to Ireland is over $500! WTF?? The taxes are more than the tickets! Sigh. And you wonder why people can afford to fly overseas so rarely. To top it off the amount isn’t even explained… it is listed as ‘other taxes and fees’. Other taxes and fees? IT MAKES UP MOST OF THE TICKET – MAYBE EXPLAIN ‘OTHER’ IF IT COSTS $500! 😛
The NHL regular season is winding down… as of today the Sabres led the league! Obviously things change daily. It will be an exciting finish. It is unlikely we will know you makes the playoffs until the final games are played.
Funny clip of some sauced guy calling in to a British talk show. Hehe.
Today is the official -first day with my spring jacket- day. woot!
Ahhh!!! Finally explained! It makes soooo much sense!! smirk
Saturday started with a trip to get my passport. B. and I are hoping to Ireland in a few months…The passport office was packed. There must have been about a hundred people in there when I arrived. I took a number and sat. I asked the clerk if I would be even see someone, she said it shouldn’t be a problem. The wait wasn’t that bad. I think it was maybe 30-40 minutes. I got the impression that some people were waiting much longer. I couldn’t imagine waiting all that time and finally see the clerk only to be told the papers were filled out wrong. I asked my clerk what it like working here. She said sometime she wants to stab herself in the neck with a pen. The blunt side I hope, I replied. Not every day she said. Phew. It appeared that I filled the papers out properly they have been sent to where ever for processing.
Saturday night we has some Vizsla people over for some pizza and talk. B. and I are involved with a Vizsla club and we wanted to talk about the agenda for the meeting on Sunday. It was a fairly lengthy talk. I don’t handle long meetings very well. I found this out even more today. The club meeting was around five hours. It seemed to me to be much longer. While I enjoy the breed and I look forward to helping out with their website… I don’t have any interest in the majority of the affairs of the club. Maintaining the website will be my volunteer contribution. One that I’m happy to make. I think I will however, avoid agendas and meetings and minutes. I don not have enough Gold to survive another marathon session. (Find your True Career Colours here) After a nice walk with a bunch of Vizslas we came home (very tired) and chilled out with Thai and a movie.
