Happy Halloween. More later…
I guess any day you have an old man touching your balls can’t be a good one. I had my consultation with the surgeon today and he setup a date for surgery. It will be December 9th. Yes. He asked me to cough. *gulp* The surgery will take about an hour, I’ll be home the same day. I will be recovering between one and two weeks. Gah. At least it should be done before Christmas….
We drove up to see my sister and BiL’s new house on Saturday. It is a stone’s throw from Houseshoe Valley. Literally… You can walk just down the street and be on Houseshoe hills. The subdivision they are in is very impressive. Lots of big beautiful houses on well maintained lots. They are the small house on the big block! The house is a great space and to some extent an unpainted canvas… So it is ready to become a personalized home. I hope they enjoy their new house and enjoy transforming it into a home.
Congrats to my buddy Pat who recently posted ‘Baby’. ‘Baby’ is an ultrasound photo of his son or daughter. Hopefully it all goes smoothly for him and Jenn! 😀
Still battling a bit of a cold. As is Barb. Hers seems like mine was a few days ago. I think I gave her the cold. I think I’m sleeping downstairs tonight. 🙁
Well Remicat burned another one of her lives today. I came home and let the dog out as I normally do and heard her distressed meow coming from what appeared to be the ground floor window. I went over to look and could hear her louder. It sounded like she was in the BBQ. I opened it and she wasn’t. I could see no cat. So I looked in the house near the window, maybe she was trapped in the room. Nope. So I returned outside and could see half her body struggling to remove herself from beneath the BBQ. I lifted it and she took off around the house, still meowing loudly and distressed. She eventually stopped under a shrub and I grabbed her. She calmed down pretty quickly after I got her in the house. I guess she got out in the morning when I let the dog out and outside she stayed all day. *eyeroll* It is pitch black still when I let the dog out… Stupid cat. At least she didn’t wander off the property. Sigh…
Tanga has been at her brother’s for over a week. We finally went to get her yesterday. Suz made us a lovely dinner including chocolate mousse for dessert! Mmm. We are getting that recipe. We weren’t too sure if the dog would actually want to come home with us… but she waited by the door and seemed eager to come home. She has been pretty quiet today however. Thanks again to Kev and Suz for watching her. We made a short stop at an adult store in Guelph. It was interesting… not too scummy – which was nice. It never ceases to amaze me how many strange products are available for sex and about sex. Some are very disturbing… such as ‘THE FIST”. Yikes.
I finally have an appointment to see a surgeon. It can’t happen soon enough. Hernias while not terribly painful, (Well, mine isn’t) are very annoying and frustrating. I’m trying not to overly exert myself but then I’d be doing nothing. So I’m dealing some periodic discomfort. It is an awkward strange feeling. You feel something isn’t right. I feel I’m missing some of the best hiking weather too.
We spent most of today doing housework. Cutting the lawn, getting groceries, raking leaves, cooking, cleaning, laundry… Gah. Weekend really need to be three days. B. cooked up quite a batch of Chicken Soup today… I think she has it figured out. It was MmmmMmmm good. I’ve eaten well this weekend.
Wow. Hernias suck. It makes you aware of every movement you make. Every bend, every stretch, every climb… GAHHH… It isn’t painful necessarily but it feels like something is ‘wrong’ and ‘nags’ at you with every movement. I can’t imagine guys ignoring it and not having it fixed. I feel very fragile and limited. Just sitting up and down comes with some discomfort. Hopefully I can get into surgery quickly and have it fixed. My understanding is it is minor day surgery. You go home the same day. I should find out when I get cut tomorrow.
We drove down to Niagara for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner (and Dad’s birthday) at my parents. The turkey was a drug-free all natural bird and it was scrumptious. Thanks to my Mom and Dad for hosting and putting on such a delightful meal. My father has turned into one of those guys who is hard to buy for and who doesn’t want anything for his birthday. Are scratch tickets really a great gift? Hmmpt. I guess having three cakes for dessert makes up for it a little.
My sister and JP are counting down the days until they take possession of their house. This Friday!
The dog has been at Kevin and Suzan’s since Thursday evening. It looks like she’ll be there a few more days. Apparently she is no trouble and has been hunting and driving her brother crazy. The house seems to have a lot less energy without the dog here. Even if she is a pretty lazy dog.
Thanks again B. for picking up the slack around the house. I feel like an such an invalid right now. 🙁
Any day you have to go to the Emergency room can’t be good. I just got home from the ‘hospital’. I have a hernia in my ‘mid-section’. It isn’t painful but it may require surgery to repair. So, that is how we spent Saturday night. Thanks again for going with me B.. I was pretty freaked out about it.
Shame for this to occur now (or anytime really)… but it had been such a wonderful and relaxing weekend up then. We were up in Collingwood and stayed a night at the Mosaic hotel at Blue Mountain. Most of Friday we were at Le Scandinave Spa which was very relaxing. I felt like limp spaghetti at the end of the day. We had a great meal at Tholos restaurant in the Village at Blue Mountain. I had a delicious steak. We left there very full. The Turkey Tent sale was underwhelming again. It simply has never been as good as the first one we went to. Lots of filler, not many jackets for sale. The hotel room was decent. Apparently you can buy one of the rooms. Nearly all the hotels at BM had a few rooms for sale.
My employer verbally offered me a one year contract position to start January 2010! 😀 So I’m good to go for 14 months. They expect the contract would continue, but due to the economic climate, they didn’t want to ‘guarantee’ anything. Huzzah! There are a few details I’m hoping to settle, a work from home day and an extra week of vacation… but otherwise things are finally looking good workwise.
Still have not heard anything about the job I interviewed for last week. I e-mailed and no response. *eyeroll*
I have a nice long weekend. Off both Friday and Monday. We are away on a mini-getaway this weekend. I’m expecting a relaxing and wonderful weekend with B..
Sabres finally play again tomorrow.
Started Saturday with a little house cleaning. Got ‘rid of the dishwasher that came with the house. It must have been 15-20 years old. It did a shit job. I will not miss it. We stopped at Canadian Tire as well and got a leaf sucker! (Not to be confused the Leafs suck.) I think this will be great for the lawn. We have a ton of trees in both the front and back yards. The fallen leaves get overwhelming this time of year. We are taking back our lawn!
What an odd day for weather. We drove up to Orangeville and the sky was very dark gray, eerily so. It poured rain for about 20m. Then about an hour later blue skies. Bizarre. I guess storms really do just ‘pass through’. We went into a few neat artisan shops and B. got some glass for her stained glass. She is back at the craft and is also taking a class. Soon the house will be adorned will new works of glass art!
We had the worst lattes in ages from mochberry today. Shame. The place is cool on the inside. Lots to look at and various places to sit. Such potential. But having incompetent and indifferent staff will ruin any business. B. placed an order for a Pumpkin latte, she got a Hazelnut Latte. I placed an order for a large drink and got a small. In addition, both drinks were way too sweet. *gawd* The staff just didn’t seem to care, and appeared to have a combined I.Q. of a kumquat. Won’t be going there again…
We did a short walk in Glen Haffy. It was nice. There are a few trails that run along the Bruce Trail. We will definitely have to return to investigate the park more. I think Tanga is back in love with B., and wouldn’t leave her alone during the walk.
Sabres lost a frustrating game vs. the Habs.
Thanks for the shirt B.. It’s Nuts!
